In 2013, Komen Northern Nevada Race for the Cure is celebrating 15 years of raising breast health awareness and funds for the Northern Nevada community. Join us on October 6, 2013 for a day full of fun as we celebrate the breast cancer survivors who inspire us to fight on.  Remember, 75% of the funds we raise remain in the Northern Nevada community and 25% funds life-saving breast cancer research.

4 Ways to Register:

  1. Click here to register online.  Join a team, start a team or register as an individual.
  2. In-Person Registration, at Legends Outlet Mall from October 2 through October 5 (see below for times)
  3. Mail in registration.  Download the registration form, complete and sign, mail with your payment (check or credit card) to Susan G. Komen Northern Nevada Race for the Cure, PO Box 20868, Reno, NV 89515-0868.  Mail-in registration closes September 20.
  4. Register on Race Day between 6:45 a.m. – 8:15 a.m. Please note fees increase by $5 on Race Day.

T-Shirt and Bib Pickup
T-shirts and bibs will be available for pick up at In-Person Registration starting Wednesday, October 2, 2013 (for teams only) through October 6, 2013.

In-Person Registration will be held at Legends Outlet Mall, suite B108 next to Jazz Kitchen on Wednesday and Thursday, October 2 and 3, and inside Grand Sierra Resort (Silver State Pavilion) on Friday and Saturday, October 4 and 5.   Registered Survivors will receive a Survivor T-shirt, Survivor Hat, Survivor Bib, Survivor VIP Parking Pass, Voucher for half price brunch at the Grand Sierra Elements Buffet. Children 5 and under do not receive a t-shirt. Note: T-Shirts are ordered months in advance and are by necessity distributed on a first come, first served basis at in person registration.

Timing Chips
Please Note: All runners must purchase a timing chip. If you registered as runner, you will receive your time chip with your bib and t-shirt at in person registration. If you registered as a walker and would like to upgrade to a timing chip, you can purchase one for $10 during In-Person Registration. 

Race Day Survivor Program
Don’t miss this very special celebration featuring our inspirational Survivor Parade and entertainment — Main stage at 8:30 a.m. To participate, please check in at the Survivor Ceremony booth anytime between 6:45 am and 8:15 am to join the Survivor Ceremony.  Starting at 8:15 am you will be directed to have a seat in the VIP Survivor Circle.  The Survivor Ceremony will begin at 8:30 am and will end with Survivors receiving a Race for the Cure 2013 commemorative gold medal!  Dedicated parking will be provided and Survivors will receive a voucher for 50% off brunch on Race Day at the Elements Buffet, courtesy of Grand Sierra Resort and Casino.  Survivors are the true warriors of the Komen Race for the Cure and an inspiration to us all. Breast cancer survivors who wish to be recognized may pick up their complimentary pink cap and pink t-shirt during in-person registration or on Race Day. “In Memory of” and “In Celebration of” back signs are available for all race registrants so that you can proudly carry the names of those you honor. Back signs are available during in-person registration and on Race Day. The Breast Cancer Survivor Recognition Program is sponsored by Zeta Tau Alpha and Bank of America.

For the safety of all participants, rollerbladers and pets are discouraged from participating in the event. Thank you for your cooperation. We urge participants with baby strollers/joggers to start in the back of the 5k walk or 1 mile fitness walk event.  All participants must be registered and wearing a race bib.

Cancellation Statement
This event will occur rain or shine. We reserve the right to cancel in extreme circumstances. In that event, there will be no refunds; your entry fee will be used as a donation to the Susan G. Komen Northern Nevada Race for the Cure®.

Race Expo
Visit our race Expo featuring race sponsors with great giveaways and informational takeaways.  We invite all race participants to join us for our Survivor Ceremony which will begin at 8.30 am.  When you cross the finish line, enjoy free post-race refreshments courtesy of Safeway and Propel.  Post photos and messages on the Dedication Wall, inside Grand Sierra Resort.  Plan to show your support for the fight against breast cancer by purchasing fabulous Komen merchandise at the Shop for the Cure.  Visa, MasterCard, checks or cash will be accepted.

The Start Line
The Race start line is designated by the Komen pink balloon arch.

The Course
There will be one water station on the 5k course and one at the finish line.  Enjoy the variety of entertainment along the course.  Follow instructions from course marshals and smile for the cameras J.

The Finish Line
The finish line is located adjacent to the start line, inside the Expo area.  Finish times are recorded for participants in the timed 5K timed run who finish in less than 36 minutes.  There will be a display clock at the finish line for all others to see their times.

Runner Awards
Awards will be available for the 5K timed run and presented to the top three finishers in these categories: survivors, women and men.   Results will be posted within 24 hours at  The team spirit award winner will be announced and team awards will be presented to the largest community, corporate and school teams immediately following the Race at 10.00 am.

Dedication Wall
There will be a Dedication Wall where we invite all Race participants to post photos and messages in support of loved ones fighting the battle with breast cancer and remembering those who lost their fight.
